Let's keep this a rollin...

In the intrest of keeping this tournament moving, I'm going to reward those of you who did your homework early by giving you your next picks. Because Lord knows when those other hosers will get their next ones in. Oh, and mad props to Karl for actually getting his picks in early this time. I know some of you think his methodology is weak, but it's at least getting the job done.

And remember, if you aren't happy with others' picks, the faster you get your own in, the more picks you will personally get to make. These picks actually already bring us into the third division. Things are going to go quickly, so make sure you don't get left behind (it might also help if you check the blog every day like I do...okay, every hour).

Note that this is the second time Bonnie Prince Silly and Neil Jung have been matched up. They must hate each other by now.

Here they are:

Sarah
(30) Flaming Lips - Soft Bulletin vs. (14) Cash - The Man Comes Around

Andy
(6) Neil Young - Harvest vs. (22) Bonnie Billy - Lie Down in the Light

Brian
(7) Portishead - Dummy vs. (10) Rolling Stones - Sticky Fingers

Karl
(15) Beatles - Revolver vs. (2) New Pornographers - Challengers

Me
(32) Marvin Gaye - What's Going On vs. (17) Zeppelin - Zeppelin

MVB
(8) Arcade Fire - Funeral vs. (9) Postal Service - Give Up

Eric
(13) Yo La Tengo - I Can Hear the Heart Beating as One vs. (29) Rolling Stones - Exile on Main Street

  1. Where's my assignment?! I was the first friggin' one in on this round. Don't peeeeenalize me just because I have the most points and am so good-looking.

  2. Also, not to get too whiny here, but Brian just wrote in his last review that he has essentially OD'ed on trip hop and you assign him Portishead's "Dummy", one of the genre's defining albums?!...Not feeling too fair and balanced here, Mr. Beck. Or Glenn, if I may. I can smell a Fox News style set-up from a mile away.

  3. Aw crap. Another oldies vs. newies matchup for me. Eric maybe a few bribes and I could switch with Brian -- I could Take Care of the whole Trip Hop OD situation.

  4. Eric, next time you decide to complain about not being assigned, will you check a little more carefully? You're right there after MVB.

As per Brian's assignment, I just do what the coin tells me. Although this was more limited: Sarah couldn't choose because she has Fingers on her list, Karl and you couldn't choose because you both have Dummy, MVB couldn't because he already chose Fingers, and I couldn't choose because I already chose Dummy. Andy could have chosen, but he's already decided on two Stones albums.

    Whew...

  5. Sorry, zwartitude, I should have checked more carefully. I'm such a skimmer. And I can sort of buy your "Why Brian gets to judge Dummy" explanation. Sort of:)

  6. On second thought, I must admit that I am a little leery of the "I just do what the coin tells me" excuse, especially after seeing "No Country for Old Men" and meeting the character of Anton Chigurh, who just does what the coin tells him. Yikes. If you ever approach me in a dark allley and ask me to call heads or tails, zwartitude, I suspect I'll break a sweat.

  7. There's a reason this is called a "death" match, friend-o.
